Reading logs

Posted by on January 23, 2016

As well as completing weekly key skills, there is the expectation at Simon de Senlis that children are reading at least three times a week. Entries in the reading log need to be signed by an adult and can include any text. This may be in the form of a newspaper, menu or even a blog post – the list is endless! Here are pictures from our Friday afternoon library session 🙂

I have recently read The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl. I love this book because it is funny and creative. It would never happen in real life. It is about how a little girl has a magic finger and she puts a curse on a family she is real close on. I am putting it back in the library this Friday so you can get on Monday. Hope you read this book and if you do I hope you like it.

    Girl Online:

My favourite book at the moment is Girl Online because it can tell you so much about e-saftey. Zoe Sugg aka Zoella is turning some of her characteristics e.g. anxiety and panic attacks. And she put it into a book. Penny has all sorts of internet troubles on her blog and about her personal life. She gets cyber bullied and decides to turn her blog private so only her best friend Elliot, Teacher Miss Mills and a user named Pegasus girl can see. I would recommend this book as it teaches you how to control real life situations.

My favourite book is called ‘Opal Plumstead’. It is set after Queen Victoria died and it is set before WW1. My favourite thing about the book is the fact that it is set in History and it gives me a chance to really learn about a young girls perspective in the 20th Century, rather than hearing about all the stories we hear nowadays about the rich and royals who have the perfect life and everything is planned for them.
The author of the book is called ‘Jacquline Wilson’-who has wrote over 100 books. She has written loads of books from a young girls persective.

I would recommend reading “ Usain Bolt” I have chosen to share with you about this because it show you about how you can do anything you aspire to and his dream was running. He didn’t let anything get in his way to stop him from reaching his dreams. It also shows you how to practise your running and how to overcome your fears of the world. Bolt has got knocked down a million times but that didn’t stop him from being the fastest in the world.

I don’t have a very good imagination but this book has really made it come to live. I recommend this book to any ages including older or young people.

My favourite book is Grandpa’s Great Escape by David Walliams as it is very funny. It has a great storyline and I think that it is one of the best books I have ever read. Even though there is an upsetting part at the end it doesn’t mean that it isn’t a good book. The book is very funny and there are some areas of tension in it as well. I felt like I was in the story as I was reading it. Grandpa’s Great Escape is a great book and it is a very humorous book I would recommend it.

Personally I recommend Grandads Great Escape by David Williams as it is really adventurous and if you are learning about WW2 it could come in handy. There are two parts of the book the first part is not really interesting but all the fun bits are in part two as it is more adventurous and more. I think part two is really good but in general the whole book is good and so far it my favourite book.

  14. Royem

Gulf is the book I chose because it is really emotive. It may be a bit depressing but it doesn’t matter because it hook the reader in. It talks about how he couldn’t love his brother when the boy did love him. I still have not read it all but I think it takes place in Iraq. My little brother introduced me to the book a few weeks ago and he told me he enjoyed the book. I would recommend it to people who cry when they depressed because it will actually hook you into the story. Plus it will feel like you are in the book as well.

At the moment my favourite book is Diary of a Wimpy kid old school. The main reasons are because its full of humour and its really entertaining also because its mainly a good book anyway, not only the one book though also the other ten books that come before it. When you first look at how many pages are in it you may think that it will take for ever but once you start reading it you’ll get through it in no time.
