English- please comment about our trip to the Sikh Gurdwara. Think about what you learned, something that surprised you, what you think life is like for Sikhs in Britain today and anything you will add to your presentation as a result of the visit.

Eleanor told us all about her visit yesterday and what makes their religion so very different. She took a lot away from the trip and is lovely to share knowledge with her family.
One thing she did mention to me, was that they have a wonderful sense of community and looking after people.

When we visited the Gurdwara, I didn’t know that I’d learn so much facts: They carry the Kirpan next to their ribs, that when they pray they either pray by singing or reading it out like a poem and that the holy book has its own resting place. They’re only a couple of facts that I learnt; most of the others were not the answer I was expecting.

It was great to find out why they do all this stuff and also what they do for other people. They go into town and give free food to anyone that wants it, even to people who aren’t respected by us.I never know that the religion Sikhism would be so caring towards other people.

Overall it was a great day and I had a lot of fun.

I really enjoyed the Sikh trip because I learnt a lot of new things I didn’t know before.

The Sikhism trip was amazing, I learnt a lot and have seen things I have never seen before. In my group I think we are going to write a bit more about why there are three swords on the flag, we might also write more information about how many gods there are, there are 10 gods: Guru Nanak, Guru Angad, Guru Amar Das, Guru Ram Das, Guru Arjan, Guru Hargobind, Guru Har Rai, Guru Hakarishan, Guru Tegh Bahudur and Guru Gohib Singh. These are all the 10 gods?

The Sikh temple visit was really interesting, we learnt about many things and was surprised by everything. One of my favourite parts was when we went underground to like a tiny museum; it had lots of interesting things that made us want to see more. I also liked the langa hall where he taught us about the 10 gods or the Gurus.overall it was a great trip and I would like to go there again.

At the gurdwara, I learnt a lot about the Sikhs in the early days and how the rich people used to bully them. Something that surprised me was that they pay lots of respect to their gurus and to each other. I think life for Sikhs in Britain is great for them. They get paid lots of respect because they give people free food and let people from other religions into their gurdwara to eat, study and celebrate events.

I was surprised that most of the religion was about your mind controlling your body and actions. Also, I found out that they want to serve others that are not as fortunate as them. Most people, after finding out about the Sikhs, could become better people from watching them. Nowadays, Sikhs are well respected but they weren’t always. The part I found most interesting was, how big a part they played in the first and Second World War. I found out that they have to wear their five K’s with them all the time. Because of this visit, I have now added more information to my presentation.

When we went to the Gurdwara the most interesting thing I found was that in World War one and World War two . One out of five soldiers that died were followers of the Sikh religion .

I learnt that they don’t cut there hair because they believe that it is a gift from god. Also that during the war they ran out of ammo and used one of their 5K to carry on fighting just to help other people to have a good life. Sikhs help people every Sunday with food. I really enjoyed the experience at the Sikh Gurdwara they were really nice.

I enjoyed our trip to the gurdwara. Learning all about Sikhism was fun. I didn’t know why the sikhs didn’t cut their hair, however I learnt a lot about the 5ks and enjoyed listening to the history of sikhism

I found my school trip at the sikh Gurdwara very intresting. The most intresting thing that suprised me, was that sikhs don’t cut their hair because they think its a gift from God, they also wash their hair two times a day with a special comb. They also pray with their knees and their head to the ground.
I think life as a Sikh in Great Britian can be hard as they look differant to alot of the rest of the peple, as they have turbans on their heads.
It was interesting to learn a new religion, and the best part of it all is that they believe everyone is equal.

i enjoyed the wonderful experience of watching the fifth holy gurus book. I found out lots of new facts about the sikhs in ww1. I like that sikhs think of other people in a better way than themselves. I was surprised that how it looked because i thought it would be like a temple shaped but it was completely different in my head.

I loved it and I think was cool and I liked the museum.

I really enjoyed the trip to the Gurdwara because I learnt alot about their religion. The next time I do R.E I will add some non googlable information to my presentation, for example: Sikhs like sharing what they have with poor people; I would like to have tried some traditional sikh food but other than that I think the trip was really fun and I learnt a lot about Sikhism at the Gurdwara.

Before going there I didnt know that Sikhs carried knifes (not for self-defence), that they never cut their hair and many other things. Overall, I found it a verry enjoyable trip and have found many things out while I was there.

Something that I learnt was that Sikhs fought in World War 1 and World War 2. A thing that surprised me was that when they read from the Holy Book, they read it like it’s a poem and they can sing it too. The way Sikhs live today is that they can’t cut their hair, when they’re at the Gurdwara they’re not allowed to wear shoes and Sikhs treat everyone as they would treat themselves because to them, everyone is equal. What I could have add to my presentation was how the Sikh men fought in World War and also mention some of the other wars they fought in.

I learnt about the history of sikhism
